25-26 Tryout Info Meeting.

Our tryouts for the upcoming 2025-2026 season will be held March 31st 5-7pm and April 2nd from 3-7pm in the CHHS Main Gym! Before you can try out, here are a few things you’ll need to complete:

All items on the above list are due by Friday March 28th!! Do not wait until the last minute to complete! We do not want to have to turn anyone away from Tryouts for missing items.

Tryout FAQs:

Monday-Tuesday we will have clinic days where our graduationg seniors will teach tryout material (cheers, dances, jumps). On Wednesday, you will perform in groups of 4 in front of the judges for a final tryout score.

Tryout Results will be posted on the website by 5:00pm on Thursday April 3rd

Yes! While Summer practices are very important for our success, they are excused for travel prior to Aug 1. You are expected to attend as many practices as you are in town for during June/July.

We know that everyone’s top team is Varsity. However, if you only select varsity as a 9-11th grader, and do not score high enough for that team, you run the risk of not cheering at all. We highly encourage you to put all teams you are eligible for. (Reminder: 12th grade students are only eligible for Varsity.)

For spirit cheer? No – but it's always a great bonus! For competition cheer – tumbling is definitely a HUGE part of our scoresheet and you will be required to have a minimum of a standing and running backhandspring by August 1st, and be in a tumbling class at least 1x per week beginning NOW.

Yes! You can cheer for any combination of teams. Basketball cheer tryouts will be held in August/September.

Tryouts are a grueling process, and people WILL get cut. If you tryout, it is assumed that you are committing to the entirety of the season at that point. If you decide in July you don’t want to cheer, you have taken the spot of someone who really wanted it. So please be 100% sure you are committed BEFORE tryouts start. (If you are considering playing softball or volleyball, please talk with Coach B at the start of tryouts.)

Start a workout program NOW! Cheerleading is more physically demanding than people realize. Start perfecting motions, do some research on what proper motions look like, and practice in a mirror or on video to see if you are doing it correctly. Tumbling classes are always a bonus, and get with friends to practice together! Pre-tryout material will be available March 24th and the rest of the material will be taught during tryout week. Here is a link to our GameDay routine if you want to see what that is like! - 2024 GameDay State Championship
